KPC honours veteran journalist Mahmood Sham with lifetime membership

KARACHI: Karachi Press Club has conferred its highest honour, lifetime membership on renowned journalist, analyst, columnist, poet and author Mahmood Sham, in recognition of his invaluable services to journalism and literature.

Reception was held in Mahmood Sham’s honour at Karachi Press Club, presided over by Vice President Nawab Qureshi and conducted by Secretary Shoaib Ahmed. Event was attended by number of journalists, intellectuals and prominent figures including Mahmood Sham’s wife, Bilqis Mahmood, Editor Nae Baat, Maqsood Yusufi, Mazhar Abbas, Shamim Akhtar and others. Nawab Qureshi praised Mahmood Sham’s contributions to journalism, saying that his work has been source of inspiration for many. Shoaib Ahmed, Secretary of Karachi Press Club, highlighted Mahmood Sham’s decades-long association with club and his role in promoting positive values. Mahmood Sham expressed his gratitude to Karachi Press Club for honour, saying that he has been associated with club for many years and has actively participated in movements for press freedom and democracy. He lamented current state of journalism, saying that profession is facing unprecedented challenges and pledged to contribute to development and growth of Karachi Press Club.
