KARACHI: Mayor Karachi Barrister Murtaza Wahab said in connection with arrangements for Rabi-ul-Awwal, coordination was underway with various civic organisations.

It is important to identify issues related to arrangements by scholars so that problems will be solved through mutual consultation.

Presiding over meeting at Frere Hall Lawn. Deputy Mayor Karachi Salman Abdullah Murad, Additional IG Khadim Hussain Rind, Municipal Commissioner Afzal Zaidi, SSP. Irfan Bahadur, SSPs, Project Director Sindh Solid Waste Management Board Syed Imtiaz Shah, Chief Executive Water Corporation Asadullah, Karamullah Waqasi and Dil Muhammad besides elected representatives were present.

 Scholars and organisers of main processions and rallies informed mayor about problems and requested for immediate solutions, most of issues were related to cleanliness, traffic management, load shedding, road maintenance and drain cleaning and water and sewage system. Mayor said work has started across city.

He said next year arrangement meetings will be held three months before start of Rabiul-Awwal and Muharram-ul-Harram.

 KMC will perform all work at main roads whereas it is responsibility of town administration to make arrangements in secondary roads and streets, he said. Town administration gives excuse of not having powers, citizens should tell them not to come for vote in future, he said.
