Karachi: Khurrum Sher Zaman member of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf Central Core Committee and former PTI parliamentary leader in press conference raised critical concerns about persistent issues plaguing Karachi despite formation of Form 47 government.

PTI continues to advocate for rights and safety of people of Karachi in face of rising street crimes and lack of effective governance. PTI has noted with deep concern that despite Pakistan Peoples’ Party’s rule in Sindh since 2008, lives and properties of people of Karachi remain unsafe. Alarming rise in street crimes has become biggest issue facing Karachi, yet response from PPP leadership, including Chairman Bilawal Bhutto and Sindh Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah, has been inadequate and disappointing. Khurrum Sher highlighted PTI’s victory in Karachi, winning 20 National Assembly seats and 35-36 Sindh Assembly seats according to Form 45s. However, PTI’s mandate was stolen through fudged Form 47s. As result, PTI has taken their cases to Election Tribunal and expresses confidence in judiciary to deliver justice and return their seats.  PTI’s foremost concern is the safety of the people of Karachi who are falling victim to alarming levels of street crimes, including theft, robbery and even murder.

PTI has taken proactive steps to address these issues, including meeting with Chief Minister, filing petition in Sindh High Court and directing all PTI MPAs to raise points of order and questions in next session of Sindh Assembly. He has called upon Sindh government and police to provide immediate answers regarding recovery of stolen items, apprehension of criminals and the prosecution of cases related to street crimes.   PTI has appealed to Chief Justice of Pakistan Qazi Faez Isa to take notice of growing menace of street crimes in Karachi and has urged relevant authorities to empower Pakistan Rangers to combat street criminals effectively.  PTI calls for implementation of snap-checking in high-crime areas and enhancement of intelligence-gathering capabilities to ensure safety of Karachi’s residents.

Khurrum Sher said PTI remained committed to advocating for safety and well-being of people of Karachi and urges authorities to take immediate and effective action to address pressing issues facing city.
