ISLAMABAD: Defence Minister Khawaja Asif said that General Headquarters (GHQ) has been informed about his Ministry receiving Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif’s letter in relation to new Chief of Army staff’s appointment.

“Process will complete in two to three days. Excitement will end after which we will deal with Imran Khan,” he said while addressing National Assembly. Earlier today, Minister announced that process of appointing Army Chief and Chairman of Joint Chiefs of Staff Committee (CJCSC) has begun.

Commenting on news regarding Army Chief’s appointment, Khawaja Asif said, “Fake news was spread regarding appointment of an institution’s head. This institution has had role in past, which was extra-constitutional. Today, institution wants to play their role based on Constitution. Today, after 75 years, the institution wants to obey Constitution which shouldn’t be hindered.”

Slamming PTI Chairman Imran Khan for whining about state institutions’ bias, he said that these institutions supported him for four years. “Despite getting support, if Imran Khan couldn’t do anything for four years then he should not attack these institutions,” he said. Speaking about Toshakhana case against PTI chief, he said that Khan used to sell gifts first and then gave money accumulated through them to government.
