Islamabad: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif summoned session of heads of coalition parties of government to discuss current political situation. PM Shehbaz Sharif summoned key session of coalition parties today to discuss prevailing political situation and finalise future strategy.

Invitations have been sent to heads of coalition parties by Prime Minister’s Office. Pakistan Peoples’ Party Chairman and Foreign Minister Bilawal Bhutto Zardari and co-Chairman Asif Ali Zardari are expected to remain absent from upcoming session. Bilawal Bhutto Zardari will lay foundation stone for an important project in Karachi, whereas Asif Ali Zardari is currently on private visit to Dubai.

PPP leadership will decide on names for participating in PM Shehbaz-led session. Sources told that it is expected that delegation of political party will attend meeting. In relevant development, Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) top leadership, Nawaz Sharif, Shehbaz Sharif and Maryam Nawaz held two-hour-long meeting to discuss country’s current political situation. Sources told that Maryam Nawaz arrived at PML-N President Shehbaz Sharif’s residence at Jati Umarh. Party supremo Nawaz Sharif participated in meeting via video link. Sources claimed that matters related to country’s political and economic situation were discussed during meeting. PML-N leadership also expressed ‘serious concern’ over ‘assault’ on law enforcement agencies by Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf.

During meeting, Nawaz Sharif directed PM Shehbaz to ensure ‘enforcement of law’ at any cost. “We have always respected institutions and judiciary. We had always appeared before court whenever summoned,” PML-N supremo said. Sources said that Nawaz Sharif directed PM to make decisions in consultation with allied parties. He issued directives to give preference to party workers who made sacrifices in Punjab and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa elections.

Meanwhile, Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) has sought the registration of the First Information Report (FIR) against Pakistan Muslim League Nawaz (PML-N) Senior Vice President Maryam Nawaz, Interior Minister Rana Sanaullah and others after the police raid at Imran Khan’s Zaman Park residence. The Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) filed an application at the Race Course police station to lodge an FIR against Maryam Nawaz, Rana Sanaullah, Punjab Chief Minister (CM) Mohsin Naqvi and Inspector General (IG) Punjab. The application was filed by Owais Ahmed – the caretaker of Imran Khan’s residence. Moreover, CCPO Lahore Bilal Siddique Kamyana, DIG Operations Afzal Kausar, SSP Operations Sohaib Ashraf, Superintendents Police (SPs) of CIA, headquarters and Saddar were nominated in the application.
