K-Electric to restore power according to current, ignoring old bills up to 200 units: Nasir Shah

KARACHI: Sindh Energy Minister Syed Nasir Hussain Shah said that K Electric has agreed in meeting to restore electricity according to new bills by ignoring dues of old bills of customers using up to 200 units.

Government appreciating this initiative of K-Electric expressed hope that K-Electric can restore its reputation among public through good conduct and consumer-friendly measures. Meeting of parliamentary leaders and assembly members of all parties was held in Sindh Assembly under Syed Nasir Hussain Shah. Minister Local Government Saeed Ghani, MNA Nabeel Gabol, MPA Yousuf Baloch, Asif Khan, Najam Mirza, leader of opposition in Assembly Ali Khurshedi, Muhammad Farooq of Jamaat-e-Islami, President of PPP District South Khalil Hot, K-Electric CEO Munis Ali, CDO Sadia Dada, Consultant KE Shizi Hussain, Regional Head Sheikh Humayun, Farah Naz, Nand Lal Sharma and Energy Ministry Consultant Hasan Raza attended. Nabil Gabol and MPA Yousuf Baloch registered protest against 12 to 16 hours load shedding in Lyari and 8 hours continuous load shedding from 5pm to 1pm.

 Power load shedding has created difficulty in Baloch populated areas and Kuchchi community areas in Lyari.  Ali Sohri and Jamaat-e-Islami’s parliamentary leader Muhammad Farooq criticised anti-people attitude of K Electric administration. Saeed Ghani said that K Electric does not have any system and that is reason why it is behaving bill payers and non-bill payers in same row. Addressing CEO K Electric, he said that your behaviour is against Constitution and we cannot tolerate such behaviour any way. He said that electricity is not luxury of people but necessity and its non-availability can worsen situation.  Munis Ali said that currently 70 percent of areas in city with 1,650 feeders do not have load shedding. He said that zero load shedding is being done in areas where there is reduction in recovery from zero to 20 percent and in areas where there is reduction in recovery up to 35 percent, Load shedding is being done for 6 hours and in areas with more than that, there is load shedding for 10 hours.
