K-Electric should improve facilities: Administrator Karachi

KARACHI: Administrator Karachi Dr. Syed Saifur Rahman said that to keep streets of city bright, it is necessary that relevant institutions play their role. "There have been complaints of increase in street crimes due to darkness. Every effort should be made to keep streetlights functional. Issue of dues of Karachi Metropolitan Corporation with K-Electric will be resolved through mutual understanding," he said addressing meeting of K-Electric and KMC's Law department here.

Dr. Saifur Rahman said that case regarding recovery of municipal utility charges tax bills is under hearing in court. Legal advisor of KMC has been instructed to send lawyers for court hearing with full preparation.

He told K Electric that mutual coordination and cooperation of all civic institutions is necessary to improve Karachi. K Electric should play its role to streamline streetlights. He said that without better communication between civic bodies, desired objectives cannot be achieved.

"Process of consultation and communication with all relevant institutions is ongoing. Better and comprehensive working coordination is key to success," he said.

KMC provided basic services to citizens in various fields and whatever steps are necessary to improve infrastructure of city are being taken.

K Electric Chief Distribution Officer Aamir Zia, General Manager Farid Ahmed, Director Haris Jameel, Head of Legal Affairs Irfan Ali Shah, Anwar Malik, KMC Adviser Law Ezra Moqim, Advocate Muhammad Umar Lakhani, S. Hasan Abidi, Ashfaq Ahmed and KMC Superintendent Engineer Anees Ahmed Khan were present.
