KARACHI: Inhuman culture against consumers by Karachi Electric Limited is continued even in Ramadhan.

Its management is not only raiding homes in case of late payment and any other defaults but also disconnecting power supplies of other residents of building who were regular payers of bills and were not at fault.

According to one consumer Qazi Khurram Iqbal, resident of flat A-1/212, Civic View Apartments, Block-13D, Gulshan Iqbal, KE team without any notice raided on March 14, accompanied by police pushed away chowkidar, forcedly opened meter room and disconnected his power supply.

Qazi said, being fed up with exaggerated billing by KE he had already filed complaint with Court of Electric Inspector Sindh, who had issued stay order against disconnection until final judgment. Hence, KE management was bound to respect his order, but they did not.

This contempt was done on instigation of General Manager K-Electric. Therefore, SHO Police K-Electric, Baloch Colony and Aziz Bhatti Police Station must take proper legal action against this violation of Court Order and immediately restore my home power connection, complainant said in his application to both SHOs and Electric Inspector Sindh.

In another case DGM of Liaquatabad IBC KE, Khawaja Ahsan and Manager Ahsan Abbas Jafery along with other staff of K-Electric invaded house No.10/127 in Liaquatabad-10, abusing and harassing women and children there, they cut-off power supply there.

According to law they are not empowered to cut-off residential electric connection without court order, analysts said.
