Karachi: K-Electric (KE) aims to increase its renewable energy share to 30 percent by 2030 as part of its bid to move towards sustainable and green energy amid prevailing climate change challenges.
In statement, KE spokesperson underscored that utility supplier has made large-scale investments to increase its efficiency as it expects 30 percent hike in consumers.
Stressing that company will produce electricity via renewable sources when demand reaches 5,000 megawatts, spokesperson underscored that it has collaborated with Balochistan and Sindh governments which have allocated lands for KE’s electricity generation projects. “220-MW project in Dhabeji is part of budding programme,” spokesperson added. Remarks come as country has seen notable push by both government and domestic consumers themselves towards shift towards renewable energy not only because of increasing energy costs but also due to country facing brunt of climate change.
KE’s shift towards 30 percent renewable energy was previously reflected in supplier’s seven-year investment plan amounting to Rs 392.4 billion.
