KDA decides to restore Khursheed Begum Memorial Building as medical centre

Karachi: Karachi Development Authority (KDA) decided to restore Khursheed Begum Memorial Hall Building in its original status.  Plot No ST-3/B in Federal B Area Azizabad Block No 8 is reserved for hospital/medical center as per KDA layout plan.

Khursheed Begum Memorial Hall Building was named after MQM founder’s Altaf Hussain’s mother. She died in 1985.  Khursheed Begum Memorial Hall Building was considered one of most important places in MQM politics before August 22, 2016. Building was become centre of MQM’s political and social activities. MQM founder Altaf Hussain was frequently delivered his speeches there by video or tele-conferencing in order to communicate with workers of political party.   Press conferences and important announcements regarding party’s policies were held in Khursheed Begum Memorial Hall Building.

On September 9, a fire incident was reported at Nine Zero which was extinguished by fire tenders of Pakistan Rangers. After incident, building was termed “dangerous” and referred for SBCA’s technical committee for inspection.
