KCCI hands over Rs1mln cheque to AWT for relief activities in Balochistan

KARACHI: Karachi Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KCCI) and Alamgir Welfare Trust (AWT) signed an accord to join hands for carrying out relief activities in monsoon and flashflood hit areas not only in Balochistan but also in Sindh and other parts of country.
Accord was inked by President KCCI Muhammad Idrees and Chairman AWT Chaudary Nisar Ahmed. Chairman Businessmen Group Zubair Motiwala, General Secretary BMG AQ Khalil, senior Vice President KCCI Abdul Rehman Naqi, former President Shamim Ahmed Firpo, AWT Organiser Rehan Yasin, KCCI Managing Committee members and others were also present. Zubair Motiwala said that situation was extremely disturbing in many areas particularly Balochistan where around 80 percent of villages have been completely wiped out by torrential rains and subsequent flashfloods.
He said, “Entire business community is shocked to see overall disaster so we felt it necessary to support our brothers and sisters in distress and chose Alamgir Welfare Trust within a matter of seconds for this noble cause keeping in view its expertise and exceptional services towards serving humanity.” Chairman BMG said that KCCI’s donation of Rs one million may appear to be a meager contribution in front of enormous efforts and huge funds being utilised by AWT for this noble cause. “But this not end as we will encourage every member of business and industrial community associated with Chamber to come forward and donate generously for this noble cause”, he assured. AQ Khalil said that KCCI fully realises hardships being suffered by poor masses inhabiting in Balochistan, Sindh and other areas hence, business community will never leave them alone during ongoing difficult times. Muhammad Idrees said that this was not first time as KCCI always responds, donates generously and quickly sends relief goods whenever natural calamities had struck our beloved motherland.
Nisar Ahmed said that overall success and efforts being made by AWT to serve humanity became possible due to generosity of people from all walks of life particularly members of business community who wholeheartedly supported AWT in its quest to serve humanity.
