Karimabad Society Residents urge CM Advisor to black-list and punish corrupt officials

KARACHI: Residents and Members of Karimabad Cooperative Housing Society ST-3 (KCHSL) in a joint statement requested the Advisor to Sindh Chief Minister for Cooperative Department, Ehsan-ur-Rehman Mazari to take strict action against Registrar of Co-operative Societies, Sindh for patronizing unscrupulous elements of KCHSL Committee in corruption, misappropriation of funds and other unlawful activities.

They urged that incumbent Secretary Imran Arwan Punjwani and ex-Secretary Irfan Arwan Punjwani the two brothers should be immediately blacklisted. They committed electoral frauds, transfer of properties on forced-ground in their names, abuse of powers, renting open spaces for weddings, selling flats/ shops of deceased persons without auction and misappropriation of Society’s funds in the garb of CCTV installation, investment in NSD programmes besides non-depositing of receipts in Society’s account. 

They also called for order to forensic audit of Society’s accounts during their period. Residents said that NSD Room which no longer exists but was constructed on vacant land owned by Charitable Trust. Furthermore, allowed Restaurant and warehouse on main gate and few rooms all on vacant land on which Managing Committee has no authority, they claimed. The safety and security of residents against Fire and other incidents has endangered by deliberately removing emergency exits of the buildings violating safety rules & regulations as they were removed to give more way for flats besides violation of spiral stairs on each side of building, residents complained in statement.

The aggrieved residents also urged to dissolve the current managing committee and conduct fresh elections excluding and black-listing all those who were part of this committee for past 8-10 years. They government officials have been involved in direct and indirect corruption with other members of the managing committee which may include but not limited to monetary gains illegal use of power and position to intimidate the residents and members of the said society along with other members of the managing committee which needs to be closely looked as Karimabad Cooperative Housing Society falls under purview of your office and the Managing Director of Sindh Cooperative Housing Authority.
