KARACHI: Malik Mahedi, former Chairman of Karimabad Ismailia Multipurpose Co-Operative Society Limited ST-2 has suggested to gift back the KIMCSL to Ismailia Charitable Trust (ICT). The ICT had gifted this land 50 years ago free of cost to the members of the Ismailia Community members for residential purposes but corrupt builders’ and administrative mafia has occupied its premises and disfigured the land through encroachments, Malik said in his statement.

He said since 1991 members of the society attempted to elect honest office-bearers to run administrative affairs of the residents but a bunch of unscrupulous personnel started cheating from the very beginning. An elected chairman of society committee Saleem Dawood had announced to replace all old constructions within 10 years but till today this project remain a dream. Dishonest office-bearers occupied the land of parks and playgrounds and illegally constructed their own commercial ventures.

Therefore, we wish the ICT and the AKDN to take over all controlling affairs and rehabilitate the life standard of member residents by providing better housing environments, Malik added. Another former member of KIMCSL administrative Committee Barkat Ali informed that in the time of Nizar Ali Fazwani we served the society better by constructing water storage tanks, physical fitness center, senior citizens rest room, reading room, provided the land to Aga Khan Karimabad Dispensary by using quality materials and shared all income & expenses accounts information with general body members through frequent meetings.

Barkat Ali claimed that from 2005 to 2015 they built 235 flats with electric meters and transfer fees facilities. 92 flats were sold out while 52 shops were constructed, out of which 20 shops were handed over on service charges and 32 were sold out. He disclosed that five resident families of old Block-W building recently required to be shifted to a new building and the Block-W was to be dismantled but the present Committee officials instead of demolishing it, invested further Rs.1.334 million on repair services that is the new face of corruption, he added.

He further stated that incumbent office-bearers collected Rs.23 million from the booking of flats in K-3 building extension and Rs.92.625 million from NAB’s recovery installment from previous body’s scandal of Rs.800 million on 22-07-2020, while another Rs.3 million were already in society account. But instead of constructing a new building of 4 floors with 24 free flats for society members they have plundered the amount with connivance of corrupt officers of the Government Registrar of Societies.

In this regard the suspicious role of incumbent Secretary of Society Committee Imran Arwan has been openly criticised and allegedly involved in all cases of corruption being reported by informed sources. He is amazingly holding one man show in all illegal administrative affairs of the society without any fear of being arrested and punished for his unlawful crimes, the sources added.
