KARACHI: Karimabad Ismailia Multipurpose Cooperative Society Limited (KIMCSL) ST2 finds itself embroiled in controversy once again as allegations of members' rights violations surface against Committee in question.
According to reports current chairman, who is defaulter of Pak Fidai Ismailia General and non-resident as per #37(i) as is currently residing Al-Aman Society along with Secretary Imran Arwan Panjwani and Directors Fehmida Imam Yaar Baig, Ali Asghar Chagani, who are failed to produce any evidence which shows they have membership rights according to Society Act section 24 and 17b. Rukhsana Budhwani also does not reside in premises of KIMCSL and stands accused of disregarding rights of genuine members and acting against official notice May 25, 2023.
Recent meeting called AGM conducted by Committee drew significant attention as it resembled corner meeting more akin to political gathering rather than legitimate engagement concerning KIMCSL ST2's affairs. Attendees predominantly comprised non-flat holders, non-members, proxy persons were not allowed and non-residents who had no direct involvement in society's operations. An estimated count of more than 120 individuals including non-members and non-residents occupied meeting venue with some members accompanied by their entire families, spouses, sons and daughters none of whom hold membership in KIMCSL ST2. This flagrant attempt to showcase sizable crowd not only infringes upon constitutional rights of genuine members but also raises concerns about potentially misleading wider public. It may be mentioned here that total membership of Society is more than 687 and involves millions of rupees collection every month.
Controversy arises amidst ongoing court proceedings, further compounded by circulation of video recording that purportedly substantiates claims made against Committee. In light of these serious violations, Registrar Cooperative Societies Sindh is urged to take swift and strict action against all parties involved, including Irfan Hussain known as Kala and also working in Registrar Cooperative Office from their office, who was present during so-called Annual General Body Meeting. Meeting which seemed nothing more than corner gathering featuring select few members and general crowd (non-members), necessitates immediate attention and intervention.
Members of KIMCSL ST2 have consistently expressed their concerns and objections regarding Committee's conduct, now seeking redressal through appropriate legal channels. Committee's actions involving millions of rupees collected from Society Members not only undermine principles of transparency and fairness but also erode trust and confidence among society's members.
As legal proceedings unfold, hope for justice prevails and rights of genuine members of KIMCSL ST2 are safeguarded. Registrar Cooperative Societies Sindh must act decisively to rectify these violations and ensure such incidents do not recur in future. United in their pursuit of justice, members of KIMCSL ST2 remain committed to upholding cooperative society's founding values. Transparency, accountability, and inclusivity are crucial aspects that must be preserved to foster prosperous and harmonious community within KIMCSL ST2, members said.
