Karachi’s well-being ensures country’s development: Commissioner Iqbal Memon

Karachi: Commissioner Karachi Iqbal Memon said that Karachi is economic hub of country, its development is development of Pakistan, it is city of all of us and we all have to take it forward together. Addressing annual dinner of English Speaking Union Pakistan as chief guest at residence of Kaleem Farooqui in DHA Commissioner Karachi added that government cannot do anything alone, for this, businessmen, industrialists and people from other sectors have to come forward. Organised 3rd Marathon Race in which 40 thousand people participated, this important event was organised with support of National Bank of Pakistan, he said.
Government is paying special attention to sports in Karachi. Matches should be made, he said that census process is going on fast, after which it is hoped that current accurate figures of population of Karachi will be available. Figures will come out and more resources will be available for city. Commissioner thanked President Kaleem Farooqi for inviting him and said it is an honour for me to be here today. Whatever support is required, I will give full support.
President International Council Patron in Chief Aziz Memon also addressed. Kaleem Farooqui said that Commissioner has many positions, it is matter of happiness and we believe that he is highly educated and young and can do lot for betterment of city. City needed responsible officer like him, which we got in form of Iqbal Memon, there is lot of work that needs to be done in this city.
Aziz Memon said that annual dinner of English Speaking Union is held every year and dignitaries are invited as chief guests. And it is our good fortune that Commissioner Karachi is our special guest today, he said that there will be a conference at local hotel on March 18.
Representatives of Britain, France and other countries attended. Shield was presented to Commissioner Karachi by English Speaking Union.
