Karachi: Mob kills two telecom workers on pretext of dacoits

KARACHI: In a shocking incident, two employees of a telecom company were tortured to death by an enraged mob on pretext of dacoits, said police. Incident took place in Machar Colony, where two employees of Telecom Company were tortured to death by mob when they came to check signals of cellular network in area.

However, Keamari police officials arrested two suspects in mob lynching of telecom employees. Police said that eight suspects were identified with help of available videos of lynching incident. Police added that names, addresses and other information were collected about eight suspects who were involved in hurling stones.

Detailing incident, SSP Keamari Fida Hussain Janwari said Machar Colony is a backward area of city and enraged mob attacked employees of telecom company on rumors that dacoits have landed in area to kidnap children. SSP Janwari said case would be investigated on merit and culprits involved in incident will be held accountable. On other hand, an eyewitness said panic erupted in area when they were providing security to anti-polio teams in area.

He said enraged mob attacked employees of Telecom Company and policemen who interfered to save their lives. Policeman said employees who were trying to save their lives from mob in car were dragged down and tortured to death with construction blocks.
