Karachi LG polls to be held on Aug 28 as per scheduled: ECP

KARACHI: Local Body (LG) polls in all seven districts of Karachi Division would be held in accordance with schedule issued by Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP). 

According to a statement issued by an ECP spokesperson, LG polls in Karachi would be held according to schedule issued by ECP. While decision regarding polls in Hyderabad would be made by ECP soon. Local body polls in Karachi would be held on August 28, 2022, spokesperson announced. ECP asked Pakistan Metrological Department to share fresh monsoon spell report with election body. ECP also summoned a report from DCs and Commissioners of Karachi and Hyderabad regarding situation in rain-affected areas.

Last month, keeping in view the weather conditions, the electoral body decided to postpone the elections till August 28 for the convenience of voters and candidates and for the improvement of administrative affairs so that more voters can exercise their right to vote.
