Justice Mazahar’s plea to stop SJC proceeding to be held on Jan 8

ISLAMABAD: Supreme Court of Pakistan (SCP) will hear application filed by Justice Mazahir Naqvi against stopping proceedings of Supreme Judicial Council (SJC) on January 8, 2024.
Earlier, court had not given relief on stopping proceedings on December 15, 2023. First hearing was held in open court on his petition regarding complaints against Supreme Court Judge Justice Mazahir Naqvi in Supreme Judicial Council. Justice Jamal Khan Mandokhel observed that lawyer of Justice Mazahir Naqvi raised objection to formation of bench. Matter of three-member committee is administrative.
Justice Musarrat Hilali inquired that you have any objection to any judge, lawyer Makhdoom Ali Khan said that law mentions formation of bench by committee, but committee did not form bench, a member of committee, Justice Ejaz-ul-Ahsan also wrote letter.
Justice Amin-Ud-Din Khan said that you should file separate petition on this matter, SC adjourned hearing on petitions of Justice Mazahir Naqvi till January 8.
It should be noted that Justice Syed Mazahir Ali Akbar Naqvi had challenged 2 show cause notices issued by Supreme Judicial Council in Supreme Court on November 30 and requested to declare them null and void.
