Journalists’ issues to be resolved timely, Murad assures KPC governing body

KARACHI: Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah visited Karachi Press Club (KPC) yesterday, accompanied by provincial ministers Sharjeel Inam Memon, Syed Nasir Hussain Shah, Saeed Ghani, Special Assistant Waqar Mehdi and Secretary Information Sindh Nadeem ur Rehman Memon.
During meeting with KPC governing body, Chief Minister assured that his government would address pressing issues faced by club’s members.
He announced plans to allocate plots to 700 new members in Lyari Development Authority, implement 80/20 payment formula for journalists in MDAs, develop boundary walls and infrastructure in Hawks Bay housing scheme and resolve lease issues related to Karachi Press Club.
Shah expressed his commitment to resolving these issues within month and announced his intention to revisit KPC in first week of November to review progress. Chief Minister acknowledged significance of media and press clubs, stating that they serve as fourth pillar of state. He emphasised need for responsible journalism, highlighting potential harm caused by misinformation.
He reiterated Pakistan Peoples’ Party’s commitment to judicial reforms, citing Shaheed Benazir Bhutto’s vision. On matter of K-Electric, CM advocated for Sindh’s representation on KE Board to ensure transparency.
Chief Minister addressed concerns regarding governance, law and order and Dr. Shah Nawaz case, assuring thorough investigations and justice. This visit demonstrates Sindh government’s commitment to supporting journalism community and addressing pressing issues.
