KARACHI: Poverty is a venom, for it gulps not only the indigent people but also the salaried and daily wager class. Regrettably, our country is the victim of such a deviance. The inflation and poverty in Pakistan is a consistent demon that is growing drastically faster.
We are witnessing an alarming growing deviation in the global economy as entire developing countries face the threat of being left behind as they struggle to contend with the continuing Covid-19 pandemic and now the flooding situations crushing debt levels and now an accelerating food and energy crisis. The students of Final Year Batch of 2019 from Jinnah University for Women, Nazimabad worked on a Community development project that involves the contribution of Course Instructor Maria Syed, University’s students (Saba Sarfaraz, Laiba Khan and Zainab Musleha) and Rotaract Club of Karachi.
The aim was to work for community building and after lots of research the students decided to generate income for the poor people who want to earn through hard work by providing them with physical assets like carts or stalls. To accomplish this task we decided to contact The Rotaract Club of Karachi for collecting data of people who wanted to earn. After collecting funds through various measures the students donated a complete set up of French Fries to an elderly person for earning, potatoes and onion for the selling of two weeks and a sewing machine was sent to Feed the poor organization center where women can use it for generation of their incomes. As students, we would like to express our sincere gratitude towards the Course Instructors, Miss Maria Syed for consistent efforts, guidance and this great opportunity to work on the thoughtful assignment, which was quite impactful for the students.
