Japan Foundation's Travelling Exhibition at JICC

Karachi: Japan Information and Culture Centre (JICC) organised travelling exhibition called 'photographic images and matter-Japanese Prints of 1970s, IT was inaugurated at JICC. Consulate General of Japan in Karachi in collaboration with Pakistan Japan Culture Association Sindh and cooperation with Japan Foundation seven days exhibition is opened for everyone.
Consul General ODAGIRI Toshio welcoming everyone to visit prestigious exhibition said, "To introduce Japanese arts and culture overseas this exhibition is one of exhibitions which is part of this programme. These art pieces are exhibited in various countries around world and now it's Pakistan's turn to exhibit these Japanese cultural items."
Noor Jehan Bilgrami keynote speaker, Rabia Farooqui guest speaker including Farrukh Shahab and Tanveer Faruqi were among participants.
Exhibition depicts important trends in prints during 1970s, focusing on print-inspired trends in contemporary art of same period. Exhibition is divided into an age of photographic expression and images of autonomous matter.
An age is section that focuses on prints made using techniques like silk-screening, offset printing and photo engraving making it easy to transform photographic images. Autonomous matter section is displaying images that show new trend that emerged in art using simple substances such as stone, wood, paper, cotton and steel sheets.
