ITP, best traffic force in world: Sarfraz Bugti

ISLAMABAD: Caretaker Interior Minister Sarfraz Bugti said that Islamabad Traffic Police (ITP) is best force in world and there was no one above law. Addressing inauguration ceremony of new building at traffic police headquarters, he said that discrimination between VVIP and common man would be removed.

Event was attended by Islamabad Capital City Police Officer Dr Akbar Nasir Khan and senior police officers. A smart contingent unit of police force presented guard of honour to chief guest.

Newly established Traffic Police Office aims to streamline traffic-related affairs and facilitate citizens of federal capital. Interim Minister emphasised importance of upholding law without any political interference, urging officers to prioritise public service.

He commended dedication of ITP officials for maintaining smooth flow of traffic in capital during challenging weather conditions and public events.

He said, “Law is equal for everyone; ensure its enforcement without any bias. Let your commitment to public service be your motto. You have been chosen by Allah for this service, take pride in your responsibilities.”

ICCPO Dr. Akbar Nasir Khan highlighted achievements of ITP for managing traffic efficiently during adverse weather conditions and construction activities.

He praised use of modern technology including citywide surveillance cameras, to enforce traffic laws and issue e-challan for violators.

He said that Islamabad Traffic Police, with 600 officers and officials were currently handling city’s traffic, adding but there was an urgent need for additional 2,600 personnel to address growing population and traffic challenges.

He commended continuous efforts of police force in maintaining traffic flow and providing optimal travel facilities for citizens.
