IT exports to be increased to $15bn, Minister reveals at ITCN Asia 2022 inauguration event

KARACHI: ITCN Asia 2022, a platform for promotion of Information Technology (IT) and guidance to new generation, kicked-off. Three-day event, organised by Ecommerce Gateway will continue till August 26, 2022.

Federal Minister for Information Technology and Telecommunication Syed Amin-ul-Haq inaugurated exhibition and conferences. He informed that as per instructions from Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif, a plan was being devised to increase IT exports.  “A target of $ 5 billion IT exports has been set for next year, while same will be increased to $ 15 billion in next few years”. Government is evaluating attractive incentives for industry such as regulatory reforms and tax exemptions. Certain other recommendations are also under consideration. Moreover, Cyber Security Policy and Personal Data Protection have also been finalised,” he said. He informed that initial viabilities had already been finalised for development of IT Parks in Karachi with an investment of Rs 31 billion and project would be launched soon.

He said that with cooperation of Sindh University, IT courses had been started at various institutes in Hyderabad. He maintained that an IT Surveillance Data had also been developed to make Pakistan a crime-free state. “Smart Policing initiative of Ministry of Information Technology and Telecommunication is being expanded across country to compile a complete profile of criminals as well as maintain a computerised policing system.” Over 1,500 brands representing 800 companies will participate in exhibition span over four halls. Event will open scores of startup opportunities. Vice president Ecommerce Gateway, Umair Nizam said ITCN Asia 2022 will be unique in many aspects this year. In view of post endemic global dynamics, exhibition and conferences will benefit new generation.
