Iranian envoy, Minister Planning discuss trade, CPEC, energy

Islamabad: Newly appointed Iranian Ambassador to Pakistan Reza Amiri-Moghaddam paid courtesy visit to Minister for Planning, Development and Special Initiatives Sami Saeed. Chief Economist Dr. Nadeem Javaid, senior Joint Secretary Muazzam Ali and Chief Foreign Aid Zaroor Khan also attended meeting.
Both sides discussed various avenues of collaboration between two nations including bilateral trade, CPEC, cooperation in energy and economic sectors.
During meeting, Minister extended his felicitation on assuming his responsibilities as Iranian Ambassador to country. Minister Saeed emphasised importance of long-standing friendship between Pakistan and Iran and reiterated commitment to further strengthening ties.
Both sides emphasised on need to enhance trade and connectivity between two nations and expressed mutual desire to boost trade volume between Pakistan and Iran.
Ambassador Amiri-Moghaddam offered his country's cooperation in energy sector, acknowledging need for energy security for Pakistan. Minister Saeed appreciated this gesture and expressed his eagerness to explore opportunities for collaboration in this critical area.
Minister commended existing border markets between Pakistan and Iran and suggested exploring additional areas of mutual interest and collaboration. He proposed for evolving mechanism to facilitate smoother trade transactions. Meeting also discussed eastern and western corridors, with both sides exploring strategies to enhance trade through these channels.
