ISLAMABAD: In a recent development, Iran has urged Muslim nations to sever diplomatic relations with Israel and implement a comprehensive boycott of Israeli products in response to the ongoing crisis in Gaza.
Gaza has endured relentless bombings and a crippling siege, with over 5,000 Palestinians reportedly killed, including a significant number of children. The conflict was triggered when the Hamas resistance group launched a surprise attack on October 7, breaching Israel's defense.
Reza Amiri Moghaddam, Iran's Ambassador to Pakistan, expressed grave concerns about the situation, highlighting that even hospitals and mosques have not been spared from Israel's intense airstrikes. He emphasized that Israel's actions in Gaza are in violation of international humanitarian principles and the laws of war, with brutality reaching unprecedented levels.
Mogaddam called on all Muslim countries that have established relations with Israel to cut their diplomatic and economic ties and enforce a boycott of Israeli products. He further stressed the need for Muslim nations to open their borders to support the Palestinians, who have been enduring the Israeli atrocities.
The ambassador also noted the insufficient coordination among Muslim countries in addressing the Israel-Hamas conflict, expressing the belief that greater coordination could have prevented the extent of the suffering caused by the Zionist regime. Iran has frequently criticized the United States for its military presence in the Middle East during this conflict and called on Muslim and Arab countries to unite in stopping Israel's actions.
