IP procedures to be simplified through digitalisation: Chief IPO

KARACHI: Chairman Intellectual Property Organisation (IPO) Pakistan Farrukh Amil said that under its long-term strategy, IPO Pakistan wants to simplify cumbersome IP procedures through digitalisation which would enable individuals and companies to get their products, services and other exclusive material registered even through their smart phones as being done in developed countries around world. We need to introduce IP related curriculum at our schools as done in many countries.
Zubair Motiwala stated that Intellectual Property Rights is norm of business today and without IP rights, country cannot move forward.
KCCI chief Tariq Yousuf stated that due to global integration, competitive environment and technological advancements, role of Intellectual Property Organisation is very critical for country’s economic development.
SMEs/manufacturers stressed importance of various components of intellectual property system such as Patents, trademarks, Copyrights, Geographical Indications, Trade Secrets, industrial design etc.”, he added.
