‘Internet need of an hour but value your time’, Sadia Rashid sheds light

KARACHI: Internet is catalyst for globalisation as it has united world. Information Technology is changing way we work, expanding our global knowledge base and bringing people and society closer together.

However, growing inappropriate uses among youth is alarming. Sadia Rashid President Hamdard Foundation at monthly Hamdard Naunehal Assembly on topic, "Internet need of an hour, but value your time" held at Madinat al-Hikmah. Renowned writer, poet and journalist Fazil Jamili was invited as chief guest.

Sadia Rashid further said, "Because of information technology, global knowledge, modern research and information are now easily accessible to everyone via a smartphone. These modern technological facilities have transformed our lifestyle, business matters, in fact every aspect of our society. It is of utmost importance that younger generations should greatly benefit from accessibility of global scientific knowledge to improve their knowledge and skills in accordance with requirements of modern era, because you all are future of our civilisation. However, there has been growing trend among youth of wasting hours on internet surfing, which adversely affects physical and mental health of children and also waste their precious time. This is time when you dream big, set your future goals and obey your parents. Founder of Pakistan Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah and Quaid-e-Naunehal Shaheed Hakim Mohammed Said laid great emphasis on value of time through their words and deeds.

Fazil Jamili said, "After listening to correct pronunciation of Urdu words and poetic verses by children at Hamdard Naunehal Assembly at Madinat al-Hikmah, City of Knowledge, I am now confident that Urdu has bright future. Of course, teachers and students are worthy of praise for their commendable job in this regard. Since first day, there has been tension between good and evil to control human thoughts and this struggle made conscious and social evolution possible. Today is era of science because science has proved itself against orthodoxy. Therefore, children should pay special attention to learning science.

Shaheed Hakim Mohammed Said established Madinat al-Hikmah to guide future generations. Modern era has its own challenges. Nations who are successful today only because they are self-reliant on modern scientific innovation."

He advised children to make their parents proud by studying with concentration so that they could have better and brighter future. Later Sadia Rashid and Fazil Jamili distributed prizes among participants. Meeting was concluded after students of Hamdard Public School recited Dua-i-Said.
