‘International Day of Medical Physics in Pakistan’
Dr Ziauddin HOSPITAL holds 5th Annual National Conference

Karachi: Department of Radiotherapy at Dr. Ziauddin Hospital conducted 5th annual national conference on International Day celebration of Medical Physics (IDMP) in association with DCPE (ZU) and Pakistan organisation of Medical Physicists (POMP).
Professionals from various hospitals, university professors of medical physics, particularly physics students, Ph. D.s, radiation oncologists and technicians from around Pakistan all took part in this conference and shared their research findings.
This annual gathering is fifth in a row. Radiation oncology, nuclear medicine, radiology and sustainable health care were conference’s theme topics.
This year was second time that Dr. Ziauddin Hospital and Ziauddin University Karachi sponsored event at their facility. Members of scientific committee chose presentations of research work that had been submitted from all around Pakistan for oral presentation and poster competition. Every year, we commemorate contributions of scientists who have worked to advance medical physics in Pakistan by presenting lifetime achievement awards
. This year’s recipient of this honour was Asdar ul Haq, Chief Scientist of Pakistan Atomic Energy Cancer Hospital.
Muhammad Rahman member (Executive), one of two full-time members of Pakistan Nuclear Regulatory Authority who is in charge of Executive Wing overall served as event’s chief guest. In addition to these and other medical physics-related events, there was paper presentation competition, PNRA displayed equipment and a career counseling booth where professionals gave students advice on possibilities and future prospects. Dr. Faiz M. Khan, Ph.D., Professor Emeritus University of Minnesota Medical School Minneapolis, Minnesota will be available for live question-and-answer
