Interior Minister approves national drug survey

LAHORE: Minister for Interior and Anti-Narcotics Mohsin Naqvi has approved national drug survey, which will be conducted after 11 years. He presided over meeting of national drug survey committee which took this decision.
Addressing meeting, he said precise data of drug addicts across country will be collected through comprehensive and effective survey. "Besides houses and katchi abadis, data of drug addicts will also be gathered from educational institutions," Mohsin Naqvi said.
He said correct data of drug addicts is vital to decision making as such, there will be no compromise on anti-drug drive. Naqvi said it required departments to finalise matters relevant to survey within 15 days.
"Anti-Narcotics Force and Pakistan Bureau of Statistics will jointly work out procedure of survey, nature of required material and time line," Minister instructed. He also directed for seeking help of international development institutions to conduct survey from all aspects.
