Interim PM Kakar emphasises public awareness on social welfare projects

ISLAMABAD: Caretaker Prime Minister Anwaarul Haq Kakar said that creation of awareness on social welfare projects among people was essential for public benefit. In meeting with Chairperson of Benazir Income Support Programme and Founder of Akhuwat Foundation Dr Amjad Saqib and Chief Executive Officer of Dunya Foundation Mian Amir interim was briefed on BISP’s huge database could prove to be very beneficial for social welfare projects.

Kakar was briefed about ‘Adopt Family’ project jointly launched by Dunya Foundation and Akhuwat Foundation. Interim Prime Minister Kakar viewed that ‘Adopt Family’ project had potential to become an effective strategy for poverty alleviation.

He instructed Ministry of Information and Broadcasting to launch awareness drives on social welfare projects like ‘Adopt Family’ initiative.

Meanwhile, Interim Prime Minister will represent Pakistan during high level segment of 28th Conference of Parties (COP-28) being held in United Arab Emirates on December 1-2. He chaired an interprovincial review meeting with regard to COP 28. Meeting was attended by caretaker ministers for finance, foreign affairs, climate change, planning and relevant officials, PM Office Media Wing said in press release.

Interim PM said that climate change was an issue of national endurance for countries like Pakistan and observed that Pakistan was playing positive role in global climate debate through climate diplomacy.

He said that despite its less than one percent imprints in global climate change factors, Pakistan was amongst countries hugely affected by these changes. One third of country’s population was badly affected by climate induced floods. Interim PM lauded relevant institutions and organisations of country for their best role in reconstruction efforts in post-flood period.

He directed relevant authorities to make full preparations for representing Pakistan’ stance during COP 28 Climate Finance and on other issues effectively.
