Interim CM directs MDA to start uplift work on housing scheme

KARACHI: Caretaker Chief Minister Sindh Justice (retd) Maqbool Baqar in meeting finalised development of township at Taiser Town for affected people of Gujjar, Mahmoodabad and Orangi Nullah and directed local government department to get internal development started.
Interim ministers Local Govt Mubin Jumani, Law Omar Soomro, Mayor Karachi Murtaza Wahab, Chief Secretary Dr Fakhre Alam, Secretary LG Manzoor Shaikh, Secretary Finance Kazim Jatoi, Secretary Law Ali Ahmad Baloch, Commissioner Karachi Saleem Rajput, DG MDA Naseem Sahto and concerned officials attended.
Manzoor Shaikh briefing Baqar said that piece of 137.74 acres have been allocated for 6,500 affected people of Gujjar, Mahmoodabad, and Orangi Nullahs at Taiser Town Scheme -45, Sector 16 of Malir Development Authority.
Sindh government will allot plot measuring 80 square yards to each affected person/family and after handing over possession of plot, with title and free from all encumbrances, cost of construction will also be paid to affected persons.
Baqar directed MDA to engage an architect so that proper development of housing scheme for nullah-affected people. He directed MDA to develop park, playground, school and masjid for housing scheme and equip it with all utility facilities such as gas, water and electricity.
Justice (retd) Baqar directed finance department to release funds so that inner and outer development of housing scheme could be started. He added that he would personally visit area to ascertain if quality work was being done.
Interim CM directed MDA to start development work and try to get it down within six months. "We are already very late to accommodate affected people and now it must be done on war footing," he said.
