Interim CM directs distt admin, Bureau of Supply to control prices

KARACHI: Caretaker Chief Minister Sindh Justice (retd) Maqbool Baqar directed district administration and the Bureau of Supply and Prices to control artificial price hikes in markets by streamlining price controlling system.
CM has told administration and concerned officers to ensure proper price management in market and he would make surprise visits to market to check price lists, prices and even quality of commodities. CM was assisted by Chairman P&D Shakeel Mangnijo, PSCM Hassan Naqvi and Secretary Finance Kazim Jatoi.
In this regard, meeting was held through video link with Finance Minister Dr Shamshad Akhtar which was also attended by provincial ministers for Finance also attended meeting. Meeting decided that ongoing crackdown against hoarders of sugar, urea, wheat and other commodities would be accelerated further.
Meeting also decided that operation against smugglers of commodities, cloth, petrol, diesel and other items would continue to stabilise market positions.
CM said that his government has already launched an intelligence-based operation against smugglers and has seized cloth and sugar from Karachi and weapons in Ghotki. He said that not only smugglers or illegal traders have been booked but punitive actions have been taken against them.
He told meeting that provincial government has developed best health facilities where people from other provinces also visit for their treatment. "I am personally visiting hospitals and educational institutions to improve their performance," he said. Finance Minister Dr Shamshad Akhtar appreciated Sindh government for running good health facilities.
CM said that he was also visiting ongoing development works even in rural areas. Caretaker CM said that he visited under-construction houses for flood-affected people and under-construction roads in Sehwan. Purpose of visit was to accelerate ongoing work and ensure their quality.
