Interim CM Baqar suspends MS hospital, SHO, head muher-rer of PS, headmaster of govt school

KARACHI: Caretaker Chief Minister Sindh Justice (retd) Maqbool Baqar in visit to 50-bedded hospital, secondary school, police station and veterinary hospital in Malir district placed services of Medical Superintendent of hospital, headmaster of school, SHO and head muher-rer of police station for efficiency and lack of interest in their work and ordered an inquiry against Incharge of animal husbandry hospital and concerned deputy director.
CM accompanied by caretaker Health Minister Dr. Saad Khalid Niaz and Secretary Health Dr. Mansor on visit to 2-1 Corridor 50-bed Hospital Landhi witnessed operation theater was totally non-functional though operation tables, operation lights and other OT-related facilities were developed in operation theater.
CM visited pharmacy and found almost empty of medicines and whatever stock was available was of painkillers. There was no ward and all beds were rusting due to heavy layers of dust.
Hospital had no technicians and para-medical staff even though it had an ambulance, but it had no driver. To question, Medical Superintendent of hospital Dr Abdullah Brohi told CM that he had not reported issues of hospital to Health Department about shortage of staff.
Later Interim CM visited BHU Jumma Hamaity Goth Dispensary being managed by PPHI. Dispensary had shortage of medicines and its administration had not kept it properly neat and clean. CM directed Minister Health to talk to PPHI administration and direct them to improve performance of the facilities given to them for operation.
During his visit to Sukhan Police Station CM found that out of its three mobiles, one was out of order and was standing on bricks at entrance of police station. On his visit to wireless room, CM noticed that wireless system was out of order. On inquiry he was told that mobiles have no wireless sets, therefore [wireless] system has ceased to function. CM directed SHO Malik Abro to call his police mobile on Facetime so that their location could be checked.
Mobiles didn’t respond and finally when he was leaving police station policemen on duty on mobiles called back. To question, CM was told that police station has 131 police constables, including three lady police constables. CM directed SSP Malir to take strict action against lady police constables. Visiting Government Boys Secondary School Bin Qasim CM met with students and inspected books, homework copies and talked to teachers.
CM was told that school has 15 teachers and 180 boy and girl students but almost half of students were absent. Headmaster of school Shaukat Umrani had no knowledge of teachers and subjects they were teaching in school. Condition of school was precarious in terms of cleanliness and maintenance. CM directed school education department to issue an explanation to directors of schools for his failure to inspect schools in his area.
Chief Minister on his last leg visit, went to Veterinary Hospital Landhi, Cattle Colony. Condition of hospital and its Lab was so miserable that CM ordered an inquiry. There were no medicines in store of hospital and shades established for ailing cattle/patients were dirty, broken and unmaintained. CM directed secretary to conduct thorough inquiry and report.
