Industrial base downslope: PTI leader fires broadsides at PDM

Islamabad: Former Minister and Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf leader Asad Umar lambasted Pakistan Democratic Movement government for downslope of industrial base of Pakistan. According to details, PTI leader Asad Umar has expressed concern regarding decline of industrial production in Pakistan, stating that stated that industrial production in February 2023 decreased by 11.6 percent compared to previous year, which has severely damaged country’s industrial foundation.
Asad Umar tweeted on his social media website, twitter, saying that at time of regime change large-scale manufacturing industries was growing by almost 12 percent in one year, but now declining at rapid pace. Earlier in day, it was learnt that country has witnessed sharp decline in big industry output by 11.59 percent on an annual basis due to political uncertainty.
Large-scale manufacturing shrank by 11.59 percent on an annual basis in country following unstable political situation of country. According to data provided by Pakistan Bureau of Statistics (PBS), big industries released statistics which showed a 0.50 percent decline in production in February, whereas, decline soared to 5.56 percent from July to February. Output of large-scale manufacturers of foods decreased by 1.97 percent, 6.14 percent in beverages, 20.42 percent in tobacco and 14.03 percent in textile sector. Moreover, production of wooden products witnessed drop of 68.65 percent and 3.37 percent in the paper and board industries from July to February.
Big industries of chemicals saw production drop of 4.84 percent, 7.77 percent in fertilizers, 22.41 percent in pharmaceutical sector, 3.89 percent in iron and steel products and 38.59 percent in automobile sector.
