Indonesia sends additional logistics for flood relief

Karachi: Third and fourth batch of humanitarian assistance from people and government of Indonesia for people of Pakistan arrived here. Logistics worth around $ 193 contains hygiene kits, tents, clothes, blankets, sleeping bags and mosquito nets with weighing 15 tonnes.

Consul General Dr. June Kuncoro Hadiningrat accompanied by Consul for Protocol and Consular Affairs First of Indonesian Consulate Hidayat Zakaria delivered assistance to representative of National Disaster Management Authorities (NDMA) here.

Two governments signed grant agreement on December 22 in which Indonesian government presented assistance amounting to around one million dollar to NDMA of Pakistan. Grant previously pledged by President Joko Widodo during telephonic conversation with PM Shehbaz Sharif will be utilised in recovery and rehabilitation of most vulnerable population in aftermath of 2022 floods.

As two Muslim majority countries, Indonesia and Pakistan have strong bonds of brotherhood and friendship two countries have always supported each other at time of natural calamities. Early on September 2022, government of Republic of Indonesia has sent first batch of assistance weighing around 90 tonnes, followed by dispatchment of 29 health professionals to affected areas in Sindh province.
