Indian police detains 6 people over cow vigilantism, death of Muslim youths

NEW DELHI: Police in northern Indian state of Rajasthan detained six people for their alleged involvement in cow vigilantism and death of two Muslim youths, police official said.
According to family members of deceased, two were abducted from Bharatpur in Rajasthan by members of right-wing Bajrang Dal. Their skeletal remains were found inside charred vehicle in Bhiwani city in northern Haryana state on Thursday. Muhammed Jabir, cousin of killed men Nasir (25) and Junaid (35) who were residents of Ghatmeeka village told journalists that members of Bajrang Dal led by Monu Manesar abducted their brothers.
“They were beaten up and then set on fire,” he alleged. However, police said that one of victims was involved in cow smuggling and they are investigating matter. Bharatpur range police official, Gaurav Srivastava in statement said that they have detained six people and are interrogating them. “Those named are members of Bajrang Dal but whether they were involved in crime or not is yet to be ascertained,” he said.
Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot while condemning incident said that police has been instructed to take strict action in this matter.
