Prime Minister, Shehbaz Sharif, written two letters, CJP, Justice Umar Ata Bandial
ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has written two letters to Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP) Justice Umar Ata Bandial and urged him to form judicial commission to probe into attack on former Prime Minister and Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan and assassination of senior journalist Arshad Sharif.
Letter stated that violent protests have erupted across country putting lives of citizens at risk after attack on Imran.
Letter also stated that First Information Report (FIR) of attack has not yet been lodged, while neither crime scene was secured nor container on which shots were fired was taken into custody.
PM also put forward five questions before apex court.
Which law enforcement agencies were responsible to provide security to Imran’s convoy? Whether security protocols and other SOPs were put in place to secure convoy and whether these protocols were adhered to?
What are facts of incident itself? Whether law enforcement agencies and administrative authorities complied with prescribed investigation, evidence collection and handling procedures following incident? Whether investigation into incident is being deliberately impeded? If yes, by which actors and why? Whether shooting was a result of a criminal conspiracy hatched to assassinate Imran or act of a lone shooter? Who are actors responsible in either scenario?
