In talks with PM, Gov Tessori expresses serious concerns on rising street crimes

KARACHI: Sindh Governor Kamran Tessori raised Karachi street crime issue with Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif. According to reports, Sindh Governor held meeting with Prime Minister, who is on one-day official visit to Khairpur.
During meeting, matters relating to Karachi’s political and law and order situations came under discussion. Sources said Governor invited Prime Minister to visit Karachi immediately, which latter accepted. During meeting, Tessori noted that issues related to police department, its quantity and intelligence system should be resolved.
PM Shehbaz said he would soon visit Karachi and vowed to take action for curbing street crimes. “Centre would certainly cooperate with provincial government in this regard,” sources said while quoting premier.
PM added that eradication of street crime and protection of life and property of citizens is government’s top priority. “Measures will also be taken to improve police performance”, assured Prime Minister.
Earlier in December, Sindh Governor Kamran Tessori took strict notice of rise in street crimes in Karachi and given warning to police officers. Governor gave 48-hour ultimatum to police officers including station house officers and deputy inspector generals to curb street crimes in Karachi.
