Imran urges world to voice for protecting democracy

LAHORE: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf Chairman Imran Khan urged international community to play its role in bid to protect democratic values of country. British Chargé d'affaires Andrew Dalgleish called on Imran Khan at his Zaman Park residence. During which Khan and Dalgleish discussed bilateral relations and matters of mutual interest. In connection with promotion of democracy and supremacy of Constitution in country, discussions were also held. Khan said achieving supremacy of law and constitution was main point of his party's political agenda. PTI believed in encouraging public's opinion in bid to move forward political action and take country out of quagmire, he added.
Speaking about significance of constitution, Khan said, "Constitution of country decides fate of transparent elections."Firing broadside at political opponents, he said, "In bid to deprive masses of their basic right to vote, rulers are violating human rights on persistent basis. Rulers keep on violating rights, whether it be freedom of expression or right to live." "By sabotaging political freedoms and basic human rights, constitutional scheme was being damaged", Imran Khan maintained. Delegation led by Mr Dalgleish stressed need for promotion of democracy in country. Delegation of journalists called on deposed premier, during which he said that there would be no compromise in terms of freedom of judiciary and constitution.
