Imran Khan's disqualification

Taking into account the three-year prison sentence awarded to Chairman Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf Imran Khan by the court of Additional Sessions Judge Islamabad in the Tosha Khana case, the Election Commission has issued a notification of disqualification for five years under Article 63 of the Constitution. In the light of which he has also been de-notified as a candidate from the seat of NA-45. Behind the Additional Sessions Court case is the reference of the five members of the National Assembly belonging to the coalition government which they sent to the Election Commission through the Speaker of the National Assembly in August last year in which they had alleged that Imran Khan while in Government did not disclose about the income earned by selling gifts from Tosha Khana.

Acting on this, the Election Commission sent a criminal code reference session against Imran Khan to the session court and de-seated him from the National Assembly. He was found guilty of corrupt practice under Section 167 for which he was sentenced to three years imprisonment and a fine of Rs.100,000, so he was disqualified for five years under Article 63 1H of the Constitution and Section 232 of the Election Act.

Both these are judicial and regulatory decisions which cannot be linked to politics.

It has been customary for centuries that heads of state exchange gifts at the foreign level to strengthen mutual friendship and make the visit memorable. In democratic countries, these gifts are not given in personal capacity but because of official positions. Therefore, they are deposited as regular records in the State Depository, which is a government department.

According to Pakistani laws, if a gift is worth less than 30,000 rupees, the recipient can keep it for free, while gifts worth more than that can be owned by depositing 50% of the fixed price.

The rate was set by the PTI government in 2020, which was 20 percent earlier. These gifts usually include expensive watches, gold and diamond jewellery, decorative items, souvenirs, diamond-studded pens, crockery and carpets, etc., which can be sold directly or by auction as per rules made by the government.

In the auction, its benefit can go to government employees and anyone after that, but this policy or exemption is not for such gifts that have a rare nature or historical background.

The Prime Minister, cabinet members, judges and civil and military officers have been banned from keeping gifts worth more than 300 dollars.

Currently, a bill related to Tosha Khana is in the parliament, according to which, if gifts are not deposited in Tosha Khana, five fines will be imposed. There will be a double fine, moreover, the money obtained from the sale of gifts or auction will be kept in a separate account and this money will be spent on the education of girls in remote areas.

Meanwhile, Imran Khan's arrest and imprisonment has brought into light the damn care attitude of his supporters, who did not protest against his arrest.

Tehreek-e-Insaf Chairman Imran Khan recorded a video before his arrest in the Tosha Khana case which came out after his arrest. In his video message, Imran Khan said that this message is for the people of Pakistan. He said that by the time this message reaches the public, he will have been arrested. Khan Sahib said, I appeal to the people that you should not sit quietly in your homes. He said that the struggle I am doing is not for myself, but for the people and for the future of the children of this nation. The chains of slavery are not broken without struggle, freedom is not given on a plate. The main purpose of this address of Khan Sahib was to bring out his voters, supporters and fans for a peaceful protest against his arrest, rather he wanted a series of peaceful protests. But after his arrest, no protest was seen, no Tehreek-e-Insaaf leader came out. If anyone came out, not more than two dozen people were seen anywhere.

Imran Khan himself reached behind the bars, but those who called him his red line, those who claimed to lay down their lives for him, those who took votes in his name, were nowhere to be seen.

Imran Khan's appeal was ignored. A video message of Tehreek-e-Insaf Vice Chairman Shah Mehmood Qureshi came out to the public in which he was asked to peacefully protest against the arrest of Imran Khan, but he himself did not come out to protest, nor did anyone protest on his request.

No other leader of Tehreek-e-Insaf came out for a peaceful protest. The protest against the arrest of Khan Sahib is only social. It was limited to the media.

Despite what Khan said, why did everyone hide in their homes? Khan Sahib had appealed for peaceful protest. Why are the hidden leaders of Tehreek-e-Insaaf afraid of their arrest now that their leader has gone behind the bars.

How disappointing this situation will be for Imran Khan, when he will know that after his arrest. There was no substantial protest, nor did people come out as expected.

It will be as if nothing happened, maybe no one will even think about it. The response, if seen, is in the verbal statements of the core committee of Tehreek-e-Insaf. Even the officials of the core committee do not come forward, only a press release is issued that the core committee said this, he said.

It is not known whether Imran Khan was informed about this or not. They will also be surprised to hear that there was no major protest by Tehreek-e-Insaf Overseas.

If anything came to light regarding the overseas PTI, it was a few incidents of anti-Pakistan. One person is tearing the Pakistani passport and another is sharing his video by taking down the national flag from the Pakistani consulate and placing the Tehreek-e-Insaf flag.

A woman is using abusive language against the army and the top leadership of the army and another woman is announcing that August 14 will not be celebrated.

What kind of love is it for Imran Khan that has brought down these people to the extent of anti-Pakistan.

Pakistan citizenship of all such persons living abroad should be revoked. At the same time, the overseas community of Pakistan should openly condemn such disrespectful people as these people are also bringing disgrace to all overseas Pakistanis.

Some people say that these enemies of Pakistan have nothing to do with Tehreek-e-Insaaf. Irrespective of whether it is true or false, why no voice was raised by Tehreek-e-Insaaf leaders, their core committee and overseas organizations against these incidents.

No leader of Tehreek-e-Insaf has even issued a statement condemning these incidents!
