Islamabad: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaaf Chief Imran Khan lamented 10 months of “Fascist” rule by incumbent coalition government as his party refused to participate in an apex committee meeting called by Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif.

Maintaining his previous stance against Pakistan Democratic Movement  government, in tweet, Imran said he would not recognise “This imported government installed through conspiracy and horse-trading”. “How can Shehbaz Sharif be so shameless given his government’s destruction in 10 months of our economy and democracy with brazen fascism, end of fundamental rights and rule of law and allowing terrorism to spread under his watch?” tweet read.

Tweet shared brief summary of political persecution PTI and its allies allege to have suffered during incumbent government’s tenure, including ‘murder’ of journalist Arshad Sharif, an alleged assassination attempt at Imran himself as well as arrests and alleged torture of leaders including Shahbaz Gill, Azam Swati among others. Tweet comes after PTI declined an invite from Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif to participate in apex committee discussing Peshawar masjid tragedy.

Meanwhile, senior leader Fawad Chaudhry called on Imran Khan. PTI leaders Asad Umar and Ejaz Chaudhry were also present. Khan praised Chaudhry’s efforts, while other party leaders also paid tribute to former Minister. PTI Chief also shared postcard detailing actions taken by PDM government against party leaders and supporters, including journalists. On other hand, Imran Khan will not attend All Parties Conference called by Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, party General Secretary Asad Umar said.

Talking to media outside Lahore High Court Umar stated, “How former premier could sit with incumbent government while false cases were being filed against PTI.” Asad Umar said that Election Commission of Pakistan was bound to conduct polls and that ongoing economic conditions could not interfere with elections. He added that elections will be announced in Punjab by Thursday.
