Islamabad: In his bid to ensure political stability in country, Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf Chairman Imran Khan is ready to provide an undertaking for negotiations with political parties and move ahead, party’s Secretary General Asad Umar said.
“Imran Khan wants to give an undertaking. There should also be an undertaking from government,” PTI leader said while speaking to priate TV channel here. Umar, commenting on Supreme Court’s ruling on PTI’s plea against Election Commission of Pakistan for postponing polls in Punjab, said that Chief Justice Umar Ata Bandial has spoken about importance of all political parties agreeing on plan of action.
“Chief Justice is talking about free environment. It is his positive view to unite everyone,” he said.
Former Finance Minister maintained that there should be such things on court’s record on basis of which election is held. “Chief Justice is not politician; his job is to enforce Constitution,” PTI member said.
Country’s top court, ahead of its ruling on case, has asked government to provide assurances that “Political temperature” would be toned down. Earlier speaking with journalists, Umar censured Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif for lambasting PTI Chief. “Earlier, he would ask us to dissolve Punjab and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa assemblies for an election. We dissolved both assemblies and now he refuses to hold an election,” Umar said. PTI leader went on to add that premier earlier gave statements about negotiations and how Khan never agreed to it, but now that PTI Chairman is ready for negotiations for sake of stability and transparent polls in country PM Shehbaz is asking him to apologise.
