ISLAMABAD: PTI Chairman Imran Khan filed a plea in Supreme Court for formation of a joint investigation team (JIT) or a judicial commission to probe PM House audio leaks. “Declare that impugned actions, in particular, illegal surveillance of PMO and PMH and release of surveillance data, especially through Audio Leaks are unconstitutional and in violation of law,” PTI Chief prayed before court.
PTI Chief has appealed to apex court to supervise investigations into audio leaks so it “completes its task in a satisfactory manner” and “illegal surveillance is put to a permanent end”. He also seeks that probe identifies, retrieves, secures and then if necessary destroys audio files. Imran has also urged Supreme Court to hold officials behind the audio leaks accountable.
“Direct government and all relevant agencies and authorities to take all necessary steps to prevent release, publication, dissemination, sharing, broadcast and spread of any of surveillance data, including further use of audio leaks,” said PTI Chief. Ministries of Interior, Defence, IT, Information, PEMRA, Intelligence Bureau and FIA have been named as respondents in petition by former premier.
