ISLAMABAD: Firing shots of exasperation at former premier Imran Khan, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif bashed PTI Chief Imran Khan calling him a “fraudster” and “biggest liar in Pakistan’s history”.

Flanked with Marriyum Aurangzeb, Attaullah Tarar and Ahsan Iqbal addressing a press conference here he said that Imran and his supporters were trying to turn Pakistan’s donors against government via social media tactics.

“I’m finally saying this that entire opposition has been vindicated by God. And Imran Khan (who lies day and night) is a fraudster, he had isolated nation and played with it. He attacked Army and tried to create divisions.”

Shehbaz said that government wanted to keep Imran’s “true face” in front of nation. “Decision will be taken by you through vote.” At outset of press conference, PM Shehbaz recalled events of April 3, day no-confidence motion was submitted against then-prime minister Imran in National Assembly. “I just want to tell you what happened that day. Before voting (of no-trust vote), information minister Fawad Chaudhry stood up and read a statement saying that a conspiracy was devised against government, its links were with a foreign power and opposition has brought this motion.

“Subsequently, former NA Deputy Speaker Qasim Suri read a written statement in which he rejected no-confidence motion on basis of conspiracy story, without asking us,” Shehbaz said.

Within no time, he went on, Imran came on television and announced dissolution of NA. “Twenty minutes later, President approved summary.”

This was basis of conspiracy that Imran has been playing along with for past five months and wasting nation’s time, PM Shehbaz said. “Due to this game, Pakistan’s relations with biggest powers of world have been compromised.”

He recalled that “baseless allegations” were levelled at several government leaders during this time. “You can say whatever you want, but calling someone a traitor, there is no bigger conspiracy than it.

But today, Shehbaz contended that links of so-called conspiracy were connected to Imran and there was solid evidence of it.

Referring to recently-surfaced audio recording purportedly featuring Imran and his former federal ministers, he said that leaks had revealed Imran’s truth but also clarified that government had nothing to do with them.
