Language is our major means of communication; it is how we share our thoughts with others. A language’s secondary purpose is to convey someone’s sentiments, emotions, or attitudes. English is one such language in the world that satisfies both the above purposes.

English has been regarded as the first global Lingua Franca. It has become part and parcel of almost every existing field. We use it as the international language to communicate in many fields ranging from business to entertainment.

Many countries teach and encourage youngsters to acquire English as a second language. Even in nations where English is not an official language, many science and engineering curriculum are written in English. English plays a dominant role in almost all the fields in the present globalized world. In the twenty-first century, the entire world has become narrow, accessible, and sharable and familiar for all people as English is used as a common language. It has been accepted globally by many countries. English was initially the language of England, but due to the British Empire in many countries, English has become the primary or secondary language in the former British colonies such as Canada, United States, Sri Lanka, India and Australia, etc. Currently, English is the primary language of not only countries actively touched by British imperialism, but also many business and cultural spheres dominated by those countries.

67 countries have English as their official language, and 27 countries have English as their secondary language. Nowadays, the use and importance of the English language are rising even more worldwide to fit in the global education system. Many nations where English is not an official language also teach English from the school level and encourage youth to learn it. Similarly, many international prestigious universities and courses like medicine engineering are in the English language.

Thus, it has become powerful means for learning for international students globally. Further, many useful scientific findings, journals, and publications are in English. The English language opens oceans of career and job opportunities throughout the English-speaking nation. And, it is more than necessary to have a common language in the multi-lingual and fast-evolving world to make all the required data and information available. Thus, English has become a storehouse of diverse data and information that all people can understand.

At the present, there are almost 4500 languages spoken in the world. But due to the presence of many different languages, we can imagine a large language barrier among people of different races. We’re in a global village, and a common language is seen as a necessity to talk with people all around. For this, the English language is known as the lingua franca of the world. While many countries have English as their native language, those who have influence over the English language are considered to be highly educated and respected. In addition, plenty of job opportunities are available to English-speaking individuals anywhere and everywhere. In the field of education, English still plays a significant role.

The English language is used by people who study abroad as a means of communication and learning. Further, in the age of the internet and social media, we couldn’t imagine connecting without having sound knowledge of the English language. About three- a fourth of the global population use the internet in day-to-day life. And more than half of the world’s most visited websites are based in English. So, only understanding this language will provide access to all the necessary contents of the internet. Maintaining relations with international clients or making new friends has become easier with the English language.

The lack of English language skills makes anyone unsuitable for education in the world today. English is the global language and is the main language for higher-level studies and is used in every book. Even the top universities and colleges teach in English. Without English pursuing further education is very hard. English, in addition to its significance in the academic field, is not only a medium of international trade; it has become increasingly important for interstate commerce and communication. English is the most widely spoken language all over the world. The English language is used for government by many nations across the globe. Effective communication in English strengthens the friendship between countries around the world.

It is without a doubt that a person’s future and his education are interrelated. For one’s bright future, the English language is important as most studies abroad are done in English and it helps establish connections with international people entering a local level job might be feasible, but English is needed to upgrade higher than that. Global market communication is mostly done through English. The most important second language in the world has been English. That is why the English language is a necessity. We use English Language in most of our international communications. While it is not the most spoken language in the world, 53 countries have named it their official language.

Moreover, about 400 million people globally use it as their first language. Thus, being the most common second language in the world, it will be beneficial to learn this language to open doors to new opportunities. Although learning English can be challenging and time-consuming, we see that it is also very valuable to learn and can create many opportunities. English is a co-official language of Pakistan and many schools and offices now use English language.

English in known as a second or foreign language so Pakistanis are now really feeling pleasure to learn and understand English language. Furthermore, Pakistan is giving too much importance to other foreign languages especially English language so they can build good contact with other English speaking nations.
