IMO Events: World Maritime Day 2022 held in city

KARACHI: Director General Ports and Shipping, Ministry of Maritimes, government of Pakistan, Alia Shahid and other dignitaries of shipping industry attended World Maritime Day 2022 mega event held at a local hotel. This year event got more significance for maritime fraternity as this was celebrated with Nautical Institute, UK’s 50th anniversary.
Alia Shahid assured full support of ministry for maintaining a clean shipping environment and other help as required for seafarers. Nautical Institute UK Pakistan Branch in collaboration with Institute of Chartered Shipbrokers, Pakistan chapter and Chartered Institute of Logistics and Transport Pakistan organised a day seminar to celebrate IMO World Maritime Day 2022.
Pakistan 75th anniversary, Diamond Jubilee of Independence, making this year’s celebration unique for Pakistan branch of international maritime organisations. Theme for year 2022 as approved by council of International Maritime Organisation (IMO) is IMO: NEW TECHNOLOGIES FOR GREENER SHIPPING. Event comprising three sessions was attended by well-known maritime national and foreign professionals, entrepreneurs, maritime students, Pakistan naval officers and government officials. International participation via zoom meeting was arranged.
