IHC warns to cancel Imran’s bails if fails to appear today

ISLAMABAD: Islamabad High Court (IHC) expressed annoyance over non-appearance of PTI’s Chairman Imran Khan and warned that it would cancel his interim bail if he still failed to appear today.

Two-judge bench comprising Chief Justice Aamer Farooq and Justice Miangul Hassan Aurangzeb heard bail cases moved by Imran Khan in nine FIRs pertaining incitement against state institutions and creating riot and vandalizing in judicial complex Islamabad.

As hearing began, Chief Justice inquired about attendance of Imran Khan to this lawyer informed court that he couldn’t arrive this day as an application for one-time exemption from appearance had filed. Expressing annoyance, Chief Justice asked that where was application, adding that petitioner had been making fun of courts. Court declared that it would terminate interim bail of petitioner if he didn’t appear within court timing. After recession in hearing, Imran Khan’s lawyer Salman Safdar Advocate argued that his client had appeared in personal capacity before Lahore High Court on last day despite his attendance was not required. He said that Imran Khan had to go to Shaukat Khanum Hospital yesterday evening due to swelling in his leg.

He had received medical certificate at 11:00pm last night and X-Ray in this morning, lawyer said. Chief Justice observed that petitioner had neither appeared before court nor he had joined investigation. If court ignore attendance of Imran Khan then what was answer regarding non-joining of investigation, he asked.
