ISLAMABAD: Islamabad High Court (IHC) has summoned report on death of journalist Arshad Sharif who has been shot to death in Kenya.

Application seeking investigation into death of journalist Arshad Sharif came up for hearing before single bench of IHC led by Chief Justice (CJ) Athar Minallah. CJ inquired where is Arshad body.  Barrister Shoaib Razzaq counsel for petitioner said Arshad Sharif body is in Nairobi. He requested court to constitute a judicial commission to probe into death of Arshad Sharif.

IHC issued notice to foreign secretary and interior secretary. Court directed designated officers of foreign ministry and interior ministry to contact family of Arshad Sharif forthwith. Court ordered foreign secretary and interior secretary to contact family of Arshad Sharif immediately.

Court also issued directives to take steps to bring back body of Arshad Sharif. Petitioner had taken plea in petition that commission be constituted and investigations be got conducted that Arshad Sharif went abroad under what circumstances.
