IHC reserves judgment on Shibli Faraz petition, stopping police from arresting him

ISLAMABAD: Islamabad High Court (IHC) while hearing petition from PTI leader Shibli Faraz seeking details of cases against him and stopping police from arresting him has reserved judgment after hearing arguments. Petition came up for hearing before single bench of IHC led by Justice Arbab Muhammad Tahir.  Court remarked proper orders will be issued. Court directed state counsel to file details of cases registered against Shibli Faraz. Dr Babar Awan appeared on behalf of Shibli Faraz and state counsel Zain Qureshi appeared in court. State counsel told court details of cases against Ali Amin Gandapur, Azam Swati and Murad Saeed have been provided. 18 cases are registered against Ali Amin Gandapur and 8 cases are registered against Murad Saeed. Case against Azam Swati has been wrapped up.

Counsel for Shibli Faraz told court details have not been provided of what cases are registered against Shibli Faraz. Shibli Faraz remained in Judicial Complex despite bail as police stood alert outside judicial complex to arrest him when he would come out.

Freedom of expression to every citizen is enshrined in constitution. Police be stopped from arresting him till arrival of details of cases. Court remarked we will have to see how we can stop police from arresting him.
