In Islamabad, Chief Justice Aamer Farooq of the Islamabad High Court (IHC) issued a ruling on Friday, rejecting the bail and FIR cancellation petitions filed by Imran Khan, the Chairman of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), in the cipher case.
The verdict was delivered after a hearing that took place on October 16, during which arguments were presented by both parties.
During the previous court session, Khan's attorney, Sardar Latif Khosa, argued that the FIR should not have been filed against his client, citing the declassification of the cipher by the federal cabinet of the former prime minister. He further asserted that the former premier was protected by immunity under Article 248 of the Constitution, which extends immunity to the president, governor, prime minister, federal minister, minister of state, chief minister, and provincial minister for their actions or actions purported to be done.
